Elisabeth Hammann l Wild Clay

Elisabeth Hammann, Master 2018

Wild Clay investigates the regional material force of clay. How widespread are clay deposits nowadays and how can they be tracked down? Do they differ from region to region and if so, in what way? How do typical deposit locations look like and how can they be identified? Can raw clay be tamed, does it keep its roughness, its force? The research revealed a variety of uses for the disco- vered materials as glaze, pure ceramic material and mixtures. The development of the cheese serving set is based on the connection between indicator plants and the discovered clay. Supervised by Prof. Barbara Schmidt and Prof. Jörg Petruschat
